As part of Aurashine Essentials environmental responsibility initiatives, our team participated in a coastal clean-up drive in Mumbai in collaboration with the movement led by the Afroz Shah Foundation. The event brought together more than 60 Aurashine team members and their families, who joined hands to remove nearly 15,000 kilograms of plastic and mixed waste from the shoreline.
Plastic pollution has become one of the most pressing environmental challenges globally. India alone generates millions of tonnes of plastic waste annually, and a significant portion eventually finds its way into rivers and oceans. When plastic accumulates along coastlines, it not only harms marine ecosystems but also breaks down into microplastics that can enter the food chain and disrupt natural habitats. Beach clean-ups therefore play an important role in restoring coastal environments and preventing further ecological damage.
Our participation in this initiative was not only about physically removing waste from the beach but also about encouraging reflection on our own consumption habits. The experience served as a reminder of how everyday plastic use—packaging, single-use items, and disposable materials—can accumulate over time and have far-reaching environmental consequences. By engaging directly with the issue, our team was able to better understand the importance of reducing plastic dependency and making more responsible choices in daily life.
The clean-up was conducted as part of the larger environmental movement led by Afroz Shah, widely recognized for initiating one of the world’s largest citizen-driven beach clean-up campaigns in Mumbai. His sustained efforts have mobilized thousands of volunteers and helped restore heavily polluted shorelines while raising global awareness about marine plastic pollution.
Through initiatives like this, Aurashine Essentials aims to contribute to environmental awareness while encouraging meaningful action within our team and community toward a cleaner and more sustainable future.
